Every girl deserves the right to education, dignity, and confidence. However, for many young girls, lack of access to menstrual care remains a major barrier to staying in school. To tackle this challenge, AIESEC and TEMI Foundation for Women and Youth Development successfully hosted the “Empower Her Future: Pad a Girl Child” initiative, providing essential menstrual care and breaking the stigma around periods.

Creating Awareness & Providing Support

The initiative aimed to address period poverty and menstrual stigma, ensuring that young girls had the resources and education needed to navigate menstrual health confidently.

During the event, girls received:
✅ Menstrual Hygiene Education – Experts debunked myths and educated participants on proper menstrual care.
✅ Free Sanitary Pads – To help eliminate period poverty and ensure no girl misses school due to lack of access.
✅ Empowerment Talks – Encouraging self-confidence, health awareness, and open conversations around menstruation.

The sessions sparked insightful discussions, with many girls expressing how much they had previously struggled with misconceptions and lack of access to menstrual products.

Impact & Key Takeaways

💜 Increased Awareness: Many girls gained new knowledge about menstrual health and hygiene.
💜 Breaking the Stigma: Open conversations helped to normalize discussions about menstruation.
💜 Empowered Young Girls: The event boosted self-confidence and encouraged participants to educate others.

One of the most inspiring moments was hearing girls share how the initiative gave them a new perspective on menstrual health and the confidence to talk about it without shame.

Looking Ahead

The success of the Pad a Girl Child Initiative reinforces the need for continued menstrual health advocacy. AIESEC and TEMI Foundation remain committed to:

🔹 Expanding menstrual health education to more schools and communities
🔹 Partnering with organizations to provide sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions
🔹 Advocating for policy changes that promote menstrual health support in schools

Together, we can create a future where menstruation is not a barrier but a stepping stone to empowerment.
